SOUTHERN PINES in UPSTATE NEW YORK
Construction Album
Enertia® homes are the ultimate in sustainability - designed to last hundreds of years, and requiring little to no purchased fuel. With the addition of solar and photovoltaic panels, hot water and electricity can also be produced FREE from the Sun. This is an Enertia kit, complete, with SIPS roof panels added, and ready for windows and interior completion.
Backfilling is underway. On the right is the South side of the foundation of the house.
This Enertia® home will be located on a beautiful property in Upstate New York.
Building a home on a good foundation is critical. There are many details that must be correct. Here you see the drainiage trench around the exterior of the foundation, the waterproofing that has been applied to the outside of the foundation (grey), and the "step-downs" at the southwest corner of the foundation.
After the foundations walls are poured and the foundation is backfilled, the triple band is added on top of the foundation walls, and the subfloor is put down.
The lower level slab will be poured soon. The slab is always poured AFTER the rest of the foundation, not before. This prevents weather damage of the slab and gives the subcontractors more time to prepare the plumbing and electrical components that are part of the floor system. The Enertia® kit will be arriving soon. Please come back and check out progress!
The bundles of timbers for the Enertia® kit are spread out in a flat area near the home site. The angled wall is part of the attached garage.
SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) panels are hoisted onto the roof with a crane. The entire roof will be set in a day.
The sunspace will eventually be the engine of the house.
